Scripture
Ecclesiastes 4:1 – “Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun.
And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them.”
Devotional Thought
One of the hardest parts of suffering is not just the pain itself—it is feeling alone in it.
Solomon looks honestly at life in a broken world and notices something deeply tragic:
people hurting with no comfort, no support, and no one present to help carry the weight.
Many of us know that feeling. We may function outwardly while inwardly carrying exhaustion,
grief, anxiety, disappointment, or fear. Sometimes we isolate because we think strength
means handling things quietly. But God never designed us to suffer alone.
Throughout Scripture, God continually draws near to the brokenhearted and reminds His people
that He sees every tear. The gospel shows us that Jesus Himself entered suffering so we would
never walk through life abandoned. Even when others fail us, Christ remains present. He sees
you completely, knows your burdens fully, and invites you to bring your pain into His presence
instead of hiding it behind performance or silence. Today is an invitation to stop pretending
you are fine and to honestly bring your heart before the Lord.
Questions for Reflection
- What burden or hurt have you been carrying mostly by yourself?
- What would it look like for you to invite God and trusted people into that struggle?
Prayer
Father, thank You that You see every tear and know every burden I carry.
Forgive me for trying to handle life alone. Help me to trust Your presence
and allow others to walk beside me. Remind me today that I am not abandoned
because Jesus is with me. Amen.
