Passage
Ecclesiastes 3:21–22 – “Who can bring him to see what will be after him?”
Theme
Trusting God When You Can’t See
Life often feels like standing in a dense fog. You know there is something ahead, but you cannot see clearly. The Preacher acknowledges this limitation—we do not have full clarity about the future. We cannot control outcomes, and we cannot predict how everything will unfold.
Our natural response is to try harder—to control, manage, and secure our future. But this only leads to anxiety and frustration. The invitation of this passage is different. It calls us to trust God in the uncertainty. Instead of striving to figure everything out, we learn to walk by faith.
This does not mean we stop caring or planning. It means we stop trying to be God. We release the weight of controlling outcomes and rest in His sovereignty. The fog may not lift immediately, but we are not walking through it alone. God is present, guiding, and working in ways we cannot fully see.
Application Questions
- Where in your life do you feel the uncertainty of “the fog” right now?
- What would it look like to trust God in that area instead of trying to control it?
Prayer
Father, I do not always understand what You are doing. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see clearly. Give me peace in the uncertainty and confidence in Your presence. Amen.
